SeasonFive made a splash at the 2011 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market with original apparel for water sports that keep people warm, dry and comfortable. SeasonFive’s shirts and shorts aren’t a rash guard, nor are they a wetsuit. Instead, the folks at SeasonFive have come up with something in between.
Take the Barrier shirts, vests, tanks and shorts. They’re made from Atmos 1.0 fabric that is engineered to repel the elements like water, wind and the sun. These pieces are all water resistant, and at their Outdoor Retailer booth they poured water on them to demonstrate how they shed liquid like teflon. I was impressed.
Each garment is a sandwich of material. On the outside is a water repellent fabric, and on the inside is a comfortable inner liner. But in between the two is a waterproof/breathable membrane that releases moisture from the inside, while keeping the wetness outside where it belongs.
New for 2012 is the Men’s Barrier Vest, and Shorts, as well as Women’s Barrier Racerback Tank and Barrier Shorts. Also soon-to-be-available are the unisex arm and leg sleeves for added protection.
Whether you’re a surfer, kayaker, paddle boarder, or maybe even like swimming through potholes while exploring Utah’s slot canyons, it seems that SeasonFive have some pretty impressive offerings and are totally worth a look.
