Socks aren’t the most glamorous piece of gear in anyone’s arsenal, and most people (myself included) don’t think much about what they’re wearing inside their shoes. But the fact is that socks are an important part of any getup because keeping your feet comfortable can be the difference between a fun trip outdoors, and a miserable blister-fest. That’s why technical socks like the Lorpen Tri-Layer Light socks are worth their weight in gold, especially during extended sweat streaks while trail running.
I’ve been using the Lorpen Tri-Layer trail running socks all summer long while training for the Park City Mid-Mountain Marathon. They’ve quickly become my favorites. No other sock I own is as comfortable for long distances over rugged terrain no matter what the temperature outside.
These Lorpen socks are designed with, you guessed it, Tri Layer technology. Basically each layer is a different type of technical fabric that does different things. The inside layer is synthetic, which we outdoorsy types all know wicks moisture away from the skin. In the cae of the Lorpen socks, that layer moves sweat to the second layer, which is a natural fiber that absorbs the moisture so it can be evaporated through layer three. The outer layer is nylon, which is highly durable and prevents wear and tear.
I’ve got over a hundred trail miles under my Lorpen Tri-Layer socks, and aside from some permanent dirt stains, there are no signs of wear. And after 18 and 20 milers on singletrack, I’ve finished my runs with no blisters, hot spots, or clammy toes.
Sure, they’re just socks, but in the outdoors, your feet are the vehicle that gets you to amazing places. So I totally recommend the Lorpen Tri-Layer Light Trail socks to make your travels more comfortable.
