It takes money to make money, that’s how the saying goes. This holds true for everybody, including outdoor companies, and Ogden-based Klymit is in need of money to help get their innovative Ulaar Jacket to market. But rather than seek out investors in the typical fashion, Klymit is looking for a funding source as unique as their products. That funding source is you.
Through the Kickstarter program, you can become a backer of the project and make a financial pledge for as little as one dollar. In return, Klymit would reward you with swag such as gear based on a scale that reflects the amount of money you pledged. For example, $5 will get you a sticker. $20 will get you a Klymit Cush Pillow. $165 will get you a Klymit Kinetic Vest. And $250 will get you your very own Ulaar Jacket as soon as it comes hot off the press. Rewards go even higher, up to $5,000 which will get you a 5-day, all expenses paid ski trip to the Wasatch Mountains.
That’s what’s in it for you. But if you’re a Utah resident, you can pledge your support and also know that you’ll be helping a local company, which in turn helps the local economy.
Klymit needs to reach a goal of $40,000 to make this happen, and as of this writing, they’ve raised over $11,000. The program runs until November 9th at 8 p.m. It’s a realistic goal, but if they don’t reach it, then backers will not have to pay their pledge. That means there is no risk to anyone who makes a pledge.
Klymit is known for developing innovative technology for outdoor gear, most notably the NobleTek argon gas insulation in the Kinetic vest line, loft pockets and body mapping in the Inertia sleeping pad line and Nanomax breathability for technical shells. They are a small company that needs your help to continue to unveil products that challenge the status quo. So anyone who makes a pledge immediately becomes a part of the Klymit R&D Beta Group, so you can be a part of creating new ideas for out for outdoor gear that Klymit can make.
The Ulaar Jacket is much like the Kinetic Vest, which uses Nobletek chambers that inflate, which conforms the jacket to the body, capturing heat and recirculating it throughout the core. Klymit says the Ulaar keeps users warm even in wet conditions and it is windproof, comfortable and lightweight.

Hey there. It’s no wonder you can’t find it, because it hasn’t been released yet. The Kickstarter Program is meant to raise enough funds to put it in production. Hopefully we’ll see it in stores soon!
