You know fall is knocking on our doors when ski movie trailers start hitting the interwebs. Well, Utah’s own Powderwhore Productions released the trailer for their latest yearbook ski flick. “Some Thing Else” is the name of their 2014/15 ski season creation, starring many local skiers like the Provo Brothers, Noah Howell and Andrew McLean.
After watching the preview, it looks like the Powderwhore gang has stepped up their game with beautifully shot landscapes, deeeeep powder skiing footage, and their usual off-the-cuff humor. In fact, the shot of McLean pretending to unleash an avalanche airbag had a surprise ending that made me laugh out loud at work. Plus, it appears our hometown ski movie company is committing even more to showing off their world travels, with segments in far-flung locales like Japan (though I have to wonder if there’s any love for our beloved Utah mountains this time around.)
Regardless, I’m stoked to see their commitment to celebrating human-powered skiing without any of the glam-rock showboating of heli-infused ski porn that normally gets churned out by bigger ski movie companies.
Many tour dates have already been announced, with the premiere happening right here in Salt Lake City with a 7-night run from September 22-27 at Brewvies.
