Snowbird is going to get dirty this summer. On July 11th, the inaugural DirtyBird Mud Run goes down and organizers say it will feature the world’s largest Slip ‘n’ Slide.
The DirtyBird will be 5.5 miles of downhill terrain, over 15 unique obstacles, 3,000 feet of descent, and a huge party at the finish line. Best of all, there is very little uphill running as you take the Snowbird Tram to the top of Hidden Peak and the starting line.
Race organizers say the course begins with a run down to Mineral Basin Bowl before you hop onto on the massive, mile-long Slip ‘n’ Slide which will set the world record. At the bottom, you’ll be unceremoniously dumped out into the mud pit. From there, runners will follow the trails back up to the Mineral Basin tunnel, then run back down the other side into Peruvian Gulch where over 15 obstacles await. At the finish line is another big slide that deposits you at a massive apre’ party with live music, beer and family activities.
The course will be a total of 5.5 miles of mud where waves of competitors will be unleashed in groups of 100 every 20 minutes from the Tram. When the Tram doors open, that’s the starting gun. The cost is $75 per-person
