If you like to drink beer and help a good cause, then this promotion is for you. Kühl, a Salt Lake City-based outdoor-apparel company, and Melvin Brewing, have teamed up this holiday season to give back through a collaborative coat drive. With the release of the new Scenario Porter, Melvin and Kühl are giving back to local communities where Melvin’s beer is sold by giving regional charities one premium quality Kühl jacket for every 10 cases or two kegs of Scenario Porter sold. Scenario Porter is available in limited release for three months starting Nov. 1 at select retailers coast-to-coast.
Melvin Scenario Porter
As a fan of both Melvin Brewing and Kühl’s outdoor gear, I was stoked to give Scenario Porter a taste test. As we all know, Melvin is mostly known for super hoppy IPAs, so I was intrigued to see what they could do with a porter. And I’d say they’ve brewed up a winner.
Scenario Porter is brewed to style – a dark, rich, full-bodied beer full of roasty, toasty flavors. Up front there’s a hint of chocolate, and as it goes down, a lingering aftertaste of black licorice. According to Melvin, their porter is unique in that it’s brewed with oats and midnight wheat, giving it a smooth mouthfeel that coats your insides – perfect for drinking on cold, winter nights during the holidays.
Seems Melvin isn’t stopping with Scenario Porter, either. It’s the first in a series of rotating seasonal releases that will focus on less-hoppier beer styles. I look forward to trying them all.
Along with releasing Scenario Porter in stores and taprooms, Melvin Field Hoperatives will also be hosting Scenario Porter tap events throughout the country, where they’ll collect gently-used gear and warm clothing in good condition for donation to regional charities. Everyone who shows up at an event with donations will be entered to win a Kühl jacket of their own.
Look for Scenario Porter in 12-ounce six-packs in WA; OR; CA; ID; MT; AK; WY; CO; SD; NE; MO; OH; MA; RI; DC; VA; FL and right here in Utah.
