On March 25, history was made at Powder Mountain when the very first ski race for TetraSkis and Snow Sleds was held. This was the first organized event for majorly handicapped athletes using revolutionary gear. Skiers paralyzed from the neck down, or those with limited mobility in all four limbs, got to race around gates on a times course to see who came out on top of the podium.
Tetra Ski Express
I was privileged to be a part of the inaugural Brian McKenna TetraSki Express, and it was a wonderful and inspiring experience. Brian was a friend and ski buddy of mine, so I was full of stoke to play a part on the opening ceremony carrying a Colorado state flag down the course. Then, the most awesome part of the day was watching these TetraSki athletes just crush the course with enthusiasm and determination.
Race organizers put together an amazing video that really captures the spirit and vibe of the day. This event will become an annual tradition, so if you missed it this year, watch the video and be inspired to make plans for next spring as the Brian McKenna TetraSki Express returns.
