Salt Lake City is home to some of the best skiing on the planet. As a result, Utah is also home to some of the best ski photographers in the industry. So it’s obvious for Ski Salt Lake to combine the two into a crazy, photography shootout over the course of seven days.
As much as I try to take good photos of my friends skiing in the Cottonwood Canyons, my digital SLR skills are paltry compared to the professional photogs who dwell among the cliffs and bowls of Alta or Solitude as they push the shutter on pro skiers dropping 30-footers and spraying perfect powder under sparkling sunlight.
So I look at these contest winners with respect as the top photos have been posted on the Ski Salt Lake Shootout website. 2010 is the third year of the Ski Salt Lake Shootout, and from February 21st through the 27th, the best ski photographers, along with the most talented pros, teamed up to capture the essence of skiing in the Wasatch.
Photographs were divided into five categories, including Powder, Big Mountain, Air, Mountain Lifestyle and City Lifestyle. Check out the top photograph along with all the others that made the cut at the Ski Salt Lake Shootout website and drool, whether you’re a photographer, skier, or both.
