X-Dance, the Action Sports Film Festival, has been a part of the Sundance atmosphere for years, along with all the other “dance” festivals like Slamdance and Nodance. The lineups of skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking and surf films were a welcome diversion from the glitz and glitter of Hollywood’s takeover of Utah every January. But this year, X-Dance has moved to November and will sceen the top action sports films of the year in downtown Salt Lake City.
The 13th annual X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival will run from Thursday, November 8 through Sunday, November 11 with movie screenings and party headquarters at The Depot, located in the Gateway District at 13 North, 4th West.
In addition to the film screenings, X-Dance will be letting the public get hands-on as the X-Dance Institute takes center stage this year with three seminars covering Digital Distribution, Crowd Funding, and new cameras from GoPro. Organizers say industry experts will be conducting these seminars that will be produced for the web. All levels and types of filmmakers (and the public) are welcome to attend and learn.
Music will also be a part of the festivities as the X-Dance Music Series will see its debut. Every night during the festival there will be a concert and after party at The Depot.
