The Utah Avalanche Center has a new Executive Director. In a press release, the UAC announced that Chad Brackelsberg has joined the team and will be in charge of the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center – the non-profit arm that plays a vital role in fundraising.
According to the UAC, Brackelsberg comes from a corporate technology consulting and program project management background with more than 20 years of experience. He’s also a passionate backcountry skier with Level 3 avalanche certification, and has submitted field reports for years as a UAC observer. Oh, and he’s also the race director of a little event called the Wasatch Powder Keg.
Brackelsberg will take over the Executive Director role from Paul Diegel, who has manned the post since 2007. Diegel will continue to work with the UAC in a special projects role focusing on avalanche education and awareness.
One of Brackelsberg’s first duties will be organizing the 24th Annual Black Diamond Fall Fundraiser on Thursday, Sept 14 at Black Diamond Headquarters in Salt Lake City. In addition, the 10th annual Utah Snow and Avalanche Workshop takes place on November 4th at Snowbird. Details about both events coming soon.
