There’s a new mountain bike endurance race coming to Utah and it promises to be unlike anything Utah has seen so far. The race is called El Doce, and organizers hope it will become Northern Utah’s premier 12-hour mountain biking event.
El Doce will take place on Saturday, August 19th at Powder Mountain Resort. The lap course will be nearly 12-miles long covering mountain singletrack that is entirely IMBA designed. Each loop will have almost 1,200 feet of elevation gain (1,188 feet to be exact). Organizers say that’s where the race name comes from – 1200 feet and 12 miles = doce (12 in Spanish for those of you who failed the class in high school.)
The course promises tons of picturesque vistas, challenging features, and downright fun mountain biking.
There are several categories to choose from depending on if you want to ride solo, with a friend, or a whole group. You can also choose to race in either the 12 hour or 6 hour divisions. Here are the division categories:
12 Hour Division
7am – 7pm
Solo Division: General Category M-F, El Maestro 50 and over M-F
2 Person Teams: U19 M-F-Mixed Gender, General Category M-F-Mixed Gender
3-4 Person Teams: U19 M-F-Mixed Gender, General Category M-F-Mixed Gender
6 Hour Division
7:30 am – 1:30 pm
Solo Division: General Category M-F, El Maestro 50 and over M-F
2 Person Teams: U19 M-F-Mixed Gender, General Category M-F-Mixed Gender
No 3 or 4 person teams
All participants will be given a meal, a mug, your choice of a frosty beverage.
