The Park City Point 2 Point mountain bike race almost sold out within five hours of open registration way back in February. With such a small field of competitors, chances are you are not one of them. If that’s the case, you can still head up to Park City on Labor Day Weekend and take part as the event is more than just a race; organizers say it’s also a party.
The finish line is located near the forum at The Canyons, where singer Byron Friedman is playing a free show. Music starts at 5:30PM when Bryon goes on-stage. There will be food, drink, and a raffle to benefit the Mountain Trails Foundation. If you’ve got no other plans over Labor Day Weekend, head up there and support those mountain bikers who will likely cross the finish line dead tired.
The Park City Point 2 Point itself takes place on September 4th and is an epic-hard endurance slog from Quinn’s Junction at Round Valley to the base of The Canyons. The route goes to the top of Deer Valley and traverses all over the three Park City ski resorts. The course is 78 miles on 90% single-track with over 14,000 feet of elevation gain.
Sounds like fun? Then if you missed registering for the 2010 race, you have a chance to sign up for the 2011 event on 2/15/11. Registration begins at 7pm, so be sure to plan ahead because if 2010 is any indication, the spots will fill very fast.
