When buying running gear, socks don’t usually rate very high on my shopping list. But as my feet have gotten older, along with the rest of my body, I’m starting to realize that my precious tootsies like to be pampered. The Darn Tough Vermont no show mesh running sock fits in that category.
My feet have a tendency to get very hot, very fast when I run, which as any runner knows is a big problem. Although DTV, began making socks out of merino wool, they are also making socks with their “Coolmax” technology. This is a special blend of various lycra’s, nylon, and polyesters. The Coolmax fabric kept my typically sweaty feet from feeling super damp.
Thanks to Darn Tough’s new True-Seamless, a high-tech knitting machine from Italy, there was no bunching of material around my toes or arch. These dense light socks have no seam over the toe, which mean no blisters or hot spots on my feet. There is open mesh knitting on the top of the sock to provide breathablility, reinforced heel and toe, and elastic support around the arch.
Darn Tough Vermont guarantees their socks for life. These socks are said to last 10 times longer than any other sock. All sock styles are offered in merino wool or Coolmax and have over 1,400 knit stitches per square inch which means durability without the bulk.
My only complaint about these “no show” socks are they still do show. I would like to see them cut with an even lower profile, close to the top of a normal running shoe. Beside that, if I can wear and wash these socks as many times as the Darn Tough Vermont guarantee states, I may have to buy a few more pairs to add to my running wardrobe.
The new Darn Tough Vermont True-Seamless bike and runner are available in no show and 1/4 length ultralight styles and retail between $14-$22 depending on style.
